Meet Marcella!

Meet Marcella and learn about her journey so far with music and her love for guitar.

What is your favourite music memory?

My favourite music memory is probably when I first learnt how to improvise and first learnt how to play the pentatonic scale. I just felt really cool improvising over blues backing tracks by just going up and down the pentatonic scale

When did you first learn an instrument?

I first started learning an instrument when I was 8. I first started on piano because my mum made me. When I didn’t want to learn piano anymore mum told me to pick up another instrument, so I picked up guitar and I fell in love with guitar

What drove you to want to play/practice?

What motivated me to want to play and practice was when I was learning a lot of new pop songs, then it was that moment when I could fluidly change between open chords and I just played along to Taylor Swift and Ed Sheeran.

Are you still excited about developing your craft?

I am still excited about developing my craft because there is so many things I haven’t learnt yet and there are so many things that I am still learning.

When did you start teaching music?

I started teaching a couple of years ago, I actually was in church and then I was teaching people how to play different instruments because we needed them for the band

Advice for anyone learning music?

Be persistent with your practice, from your persistency you will see results. I also like to scroll through instagram and watch other very good musicians, I get a lot of instrument from that.
