Term 2 jam & bands

Term 2's Jams and Bands Night was a fantastic success and a wonderful celebration of the talent, dedication, and creativity of students from across all four academies. The evening showcased an exciting mix of ages, instruments, and musical styles, highlighting the diversity and strength of our music community.

Jams and Bands is presented across two separate shows. Show 1, Jam Night, focuses on solo performers, duos, family groups, and friends coming together to share their music in a supportive and encouraging environment. It’s a special opportunity for students to perform for friends, family, and fellow musicians while building confidence on stage.

Show 2, Band Night, sees our academy bands take over the Backbeat stage with energy and enthusiasm. With much of Term 2 falling during New Zealand Music Month, audiences were treated to an outstanding selection of Kiwi classics, with plenty of singing along and dancing throughout the night.

Many of our bands have recently participated in, or are preparing to take part in, the New Found Sound music competition, organised by YMCA's youth development programme, Raise Up. It has been an incredibly busy and productive period for our band programme, and the hard work is clearly paying off. The growth in musicianship, stage presence, confidence, and overall performance quality was evident throughout the evening, making for a memorable showcase of emerging talent.
