 Meet our Directors

  • Eliette began writing music from the age of 9 and at 17 was placed in the top 50 of the Play It Strange songwriting competition in New Zealand with her song “Believe”.

At 15, Neil Moore mentored Eliette as she began teaching Simply Music Piano, being the first teacher for New Zealand and the youngest to ever do so in the world.

After high school she moved to Amsterdam to study under Karin Bloemen, a dutch singer, entertainer and comedian. She continued her studies when moving to Sydney to attend the Australian Institute of Music where she was surrounded by talented classmates and tutors. Mentored by the likes of Nina Harris, Trish Delaney-Brown, Sean Coffin, Steve Henderson & Jamie Rigg. In 2015 she graduated with her Bachelors of Contemporary Performance, majoring in Vocals and released her first EP “Black Kisses”. Later that year she trained with Lynn Kleiner’s Music Rhapsody Programme to teach preschoolers.

Eliette believes music is an extremely powerful tool and encourages all her students to be creative, song write and channel their energy into music.

In 2016 Eliette opened ‘Eliette’s Music Academy’ and has quickly grown to 25+ teachers and 700+ students at 2 locations.

In 2018 she launched The Green Room Charitable trust which is a music programme supporting Youth aged 12 - 17 struggling with mental health.

In 2019 she received a “Local Hero” award for her work with The Green Room from Kiwi Banks' New Zealander of the Year Awards. She was then a semi finalist for 2020s Young New Zealander of the Year Award.

In a short time she has created her own brand of teaching and her philosophies in general have hit their mark and impacted already a great deal of people. Her journey has only just begun and the future looks exciting for both her Academy and The Green Room.

  • EMA Grafton is managed by Nick Douch, drummer of kiwi rock band Ekko Park. They have been a forerunner in the NZ music scene for the past 10 years and have released 3 albums, playing in hundreds of shows throughout New Zealand, Australia, UK and Europe.

In 2017 Nick joined Eliette’s Music Academy teaching drums and band programmes. He has helped grow the academy into the force it has become, with a roll of 450 students.

Nick was self taught for the first 8 years of his childhood, building a drum kit from pillows. After graduating High School he continued his passion for drums at WINTEC, Hamilton, completing a Bachelor of Music.

From the very beginning it was his goal to one day be the drummer in a band, and while now actively doing this, he wants to encourage and inspire young musicians to follow their dreams through EMA.”

PERFORMANCE OPPORTUNITIES

OPEN MIC NIGHT

Once a term EMA hosts an open mic night to students who want to showcase what they’ve been working on throughout the term. Having regular performance opportunities is important to us and we host these in house on the last Friday of term.

END OF YEAR CONCERTS

Eliette’s Music Academy puts on a large Christmas Showcase where all students are welcomed to perform items that they’ve been working on throughout the year.

It’s an absolutely incredible weekend which always leaves us teachers and parents incredibly proud of our students.

our PROGRAMME GIVES YOU AN INTERNATIONALLY RECOGNISED QUALIFICATION WHEREVER YOU ARE IN THE WORLD.

Rock School London is the programme we follow for Voice, Guitar, Ukulele, Bass, Drums, Music Theory and Music Production. This ensures our lessons cover technical and theoretical skills in a structured and modern context while still allowing flexibility in song choice.

The books allow students to take home exercises, play along with backing tracks, have immediate access to sheet music and, if they like, work towards a performance or graded certificate each year. However exams are not compulsory.
